Ang Simpleng Pangarap ni Tatang: Urban Farming and SM Foundation

Noong Hulyo 7, isinagawa ng SM Foundation ang isang Urban Farming initiative sa SM City North EDSA Annex at sa 16 na iba pang SM Mall bilang pagdiwang sa mga nagawa ng nasabing foundation katuwang ang pamahalaan sa loob ng 16 na taon. Ang simpleng pangarap ni Tatang Henry Sy, Sr., na umusbong at lubos na nakapagbago sa buhay ng maraming Pilipino. 


Ang Urban Farming initiative ay pinangungunahan ng SM Foundation sa pamamagitan ng Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture Program. Ito ay inilunsad upang mapaunlad ang buhay ng mga magsasaka, magkaroon ng kamalayan sa kalikasan, siguraduhing may sapat na pagkain para sa ating mga pamayanan, at pagbigay ng trabaho at pagkakataong magkaroon ng karagdagang pagkakakitaan ang ating mga kababayan. Sa pamamagitan ng KSK-SAP, maraming kababayan nating magsasaka ay nabigyan ng karagdagang mga skill tulad ng urban farming techniques, product development, marketing, at basic accounting sa mga lugar na malapit sa kanila. 

Lagpas na 260 sustainable agricultural trainings na ang naisagawa na ng KSK at nakatulong ito sa mahigit na 28,500 na mga magsasaka. Ang mga pagsasanay na ito ay ginanap sa siyudad at sa mga bayan na malalapit sa ating mga kababayan upang matulungan sila sa pagtatanim at pagpapalago ng mataas na kalidad ng prutas at gulay. 

Katuwang ng SM Foundation, SM Supermalls, at SM Markets ang mga ahensya ng ating pamahalaan tulad ng Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Tourism, at ang Quezon City local government unit sa pagsisigurado na marming mga kababayan natin ang tuloy-tuloy na matutulungan. 

Sa tulong ng SM Supermalls at SM Markets, nabigyan ang mga urban farmers ng pagkakataong maibenta ang kanilang mga ani sa SM Sunday Market, at sa iba pang mga pamilihan ng SM upang magabayan sila sa negosyo ng pagbebenta ng kanilang mga ani.

Tunay na nakakatuwa na ang simpleng pangarap ni Tatang ay lubos na nakatulong sa mga kababayan nating magsasaka sa pagsisiguradong may sapat silang kita at may sapat na pagkain ang bawat pamilyang Pilipino, lalo na ngayon palang tayo nakakabangon mula sa hamon ng pandaigdigang ekonomiya. 

Ang SM ay nasa megosyo ng paglikha ng sustainable na kalikasan. Mula sa pagiging una sa pag-co-consider ng renewable na enerhiya sa mga mall buildings, hanggang sa pag-implementa ng mga kagamitan sa pagtitipid ng enerhiya, kami ay magpapatuloy na iabot ang mga makabuluhang sustainability milestones.

Essilor and GMA Kapuso Foundation provide 500 prescription glasses

In its commitment to provide better visual health for all, Essilor, the world leader for ophthalmic optics, reached out to Filipinos in need of vision correction at the annual Kapuso 20-20 Eye Project.
